Food & Nutrition Curriculum

Teaching the next generation of growers, cooks & eaters

What we noticed

An upcoming change to the national curriculum will make Food & Nutrition a dedicated subject in primary schools. This presents an opportunity to influence how the next generation learns about food, and help Hertfordshire’s schools meet the new curriculum requirements.

What we’re doing

We’re co-designing a curriculum resource that will take a practical and holistic approach to teaching food production, sustainability, cooking and nutrition. It will integrate cross-curricular links and be made locally relevant through real examples from the wider Hertfordshire Food Partnership.

How it supports our shared vision

Children will carry these learnings home to their families and communities, spreading awareness of local food systems far beyond the classroom. Education has the power to create lasting behaviour change that results in improved health, reduced waste and environmental benefits.
